The IELTS test is essential for many students who need a required band score or level to take the next step in their careers or Higher/Further Education studies. IELTS is also a requirement for immigration to some English-speaking countries, including the UK, where it is one of the secure English language test suites monitored and accepted by the Home Office’s Secure English Language Test (SELT) immigration scheme.
The IELTS Course at Express English College is specially designed for learners who want to prepare for the IELTS examination. The course will help students to practise and extend all four key academic skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as helping them to develop their control of grammar and vocabulary especially for their forthcoming exam. This course helps students practise the techniques required to achieve their desired IELTS score. You will be assessed regularly and track your progress with mock tests, mini tests, interviews with an examiner and writing workshops. IELTS is required by most UK universities if applicants cannot demonstrate a sufficient level of English in their studies to date; additionally, IELTS is needed in order to practise nursing or medicine in the UK. Express English College is delighted to help and support any students requiring IELTS.
EAP (English For Academic Purposes) lessons differ from IELTS lessons in that a greater variety of academic texts, skills, approaches and methodologies can be covered, as lessons are not constrained by following the IELTS exam structure. Academic skills involve all those in IELTS, but also include presentation, debating, discussion, study and organisational skills development, among others.
We use the most appropriate contemporary resources, materials and engaging methodologies, based on teachers’ in-depth knowledge of the requirements of the IELTS exam to securely and diligently prepare you for your examination. You will practice authentic tasks based on the speaking, writing, reading and listening sections of the exam and receive detailed feedback and tips from your teacher. You can choose to concentrate on whichever skills you feel have shown up as strengths or weaknesses in previous sittings of the exam or take a broad-based approach to preparing for your first attempt at the examination. Your teacher will formulate a specific plan with you regarding your exact needs based on past scores or on your personal and professional goals.

General English Super Intensive + IELTS combines four morning lessons of General English with two afternoon lesson aiming at developing those skills in reading, speaking, writing and listening needed by students aiming to take the IELTS examination. The IELTS test is essential for many students who need a good grade to take the next step in their careers or studies. IELTS is also a requirement for immigration to some English-speaking countries, including the UK, where it is one of the tests used for the Home Office’s Secure English Language Test (SELT).
